PROVERBS IN MODERN SPEECH:ARE PROVERBS RELEVANT TODAY?

This article examines the role of proverbs in modern speech and their relevance in the context of rapid language development and changing cultural norms. The study examines whether proverbs persist in everyday communication, the contexts in which they are used, and how their use reflects changes in worldviews and social practices. It also examines whether proverbs retain their functions of instruction, moralization, and consolation, or whether they are losing their significance due to the modernization of speech and the simplification of communication processes. The factors contributing to the relevance and loss of proverbs are also examined. The paper proposes a classification of proverbs most frequently used in modern speech and conducts a lexical and semantic analysis. In conclusion, we come to the conclusion that proverbs, despite their historical basis, continue to play an important role in colloquial speech, although they undergo changes in their use and perception.
