Abstract

This article analyzes the common and distinctive features of English and Uzbek political discourses. Both discourses perform persuasive and legitimizing functions. At the same time, they differ in rhetorical tone, degree of directness, and cultural orientation. English political discourse is more explicit, whereas Uzbek political discourse emphasizes harmony and moral responsibility.
