Abstract

This article analyzes the semantic devices used in English biblionyms from a linguistic perspective. The study examines the nominative features of biblionyms, their semantic structure, and the main meaning-forming mechanisms involved in the creation of book titles. Particular attention is paid to the role of such semantic devices as metaphor, metonymy, symbolism, associativity, polysemy, and connotation in the formation of English biblionyms. The article also discusses the functions of biblionyms in attracting readers’ attention, summarizing the content of a literary work, creating aesthetic impact, and realizing pragmatic purposes. The findings contribute to a deeper semantic and pragmatic understanding of English biblionyms and enrich scholarly views in onomastics, lexicology, and text linguistics.
