SOME ASPECTS OF GRADUAL RELATIONS IN THE SYNTAGMATICS OF FRENCH CONSONANTS

The article examines certain aspects of the gradational relationships of French consonants in syntagmatic contexts. The study focuses on the influence of phonetic and phonological environments on articulation, acoustic features, and positional changes of consonants at the beginning, middle, and end of words and phrases. Attention is given to coarticulation, assimilation, reduction, and elision processes, which demonstrate the varying degrees of interaction between phonemes within the syntagma. The analysis identifies phonetic and phonological gradation patterns according to consonants’ positions in words, contributing to a better understanding of the French phonological system.
