Abstract

This article provides a theoretical analysis of the psycholinguistic and cognitive aspects of bilingualism. The study examines speech perception and production in bilingual contexts, mechanisms of interaction between language systems, code-switching, and interference phenomena. Special attention is paid to the impact of bilingualism on attention, memory, and executive functions. The findings support the view of bilingualism as a complex psychocognitive system rather than a simple combination of two monolingual competences.
