Abstract

This article analyzes the gradual development of national awakening ideas in the works of Is’hoqxon To‘ra Ibrat, one of the prominent representatives of Uzbek enlightenment literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The analysis is based directly on the preserved collection of Ibrat’s poems. The article highlights the poet’s transition from social criticism to a call for enlightenment, and subsequently to the promotion of modernization and “culture.”
