Abstract

The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of three significant works of Soviet literature, united by the theme of desertion and moral choice during the Great Patriotic War. The author examines the transformation of the characters' personalities under the pressure of extreme circumstances and time. The focus is on comparing the images of Andrei Guskov, Ismail, and Tursunboy, as well as the role of female characters as ethical antipodes of desertion. The national identity and universal human significance of the interpretation of guilt, conscience, and historical memory are revealed.
