METHODS OF ADAPTING SH. SCHWARTZ’S VALUE THEORY METHODOLOGY

This article is devoted to the adaptation of Shalom Schwartz’s methodology of multiple identification. Schwartz’s method for studying personal values can be adapted into the Uzbek language. It is characterized by sufficient psychometric indicators of validity, reliability, and accuracy for practical use. The structure of values and the nature of value preferences have a cultural specificity; therefore, they differ among the three groups of respondents, as well as by gender. Differences in value structures and their characteristics are determined by the cultural environment of the respondents — for instance, distinctions between Uzbek-speaking participants and bilinguals are associated with the more traditional worldview of the former.
