Abstract

This article examines ethnic names in medieval written sources and demonstrates their significance in the study of the ethnic history of the Uzbek people. In it, the author analyzed the etymology of ethnonyms characteristic of different periods of our people's history. The article also shows that many place names on the territory of Uzbekistan are based on the names of a particular tribe, which serve as an important source for studying the history of our people and other brotherly peoples.
