THE ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT AND FORMATION OF THE SHORT STORY GENRE

The article discusses the short story as a genre formed in the earliest stages of human thought. The genre traditions rooted in ancient Greek culture are evaluated within the framework of both Western and Eastern literary traditions. Special attention is paid to its position and role in the historical development of literature.
