REASONS FOR GIRLS DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL IN THE SAMARKAND REGION (1925–1991)

This article analyzes the development of women’s education in Uzbekistan, particularly in the Samarkand region, during the mid-20th century, its main challenges, and ways to address them. The study examines the Soviet-era education policy aimed at enrolling girls in schools, their level of participation in education, the reasons for the decline in continuation at higher grade levels, and regional disparities. It also provides a scientific analysis of the impact of socio-economic factors, traditional views, and gender stereotypes that led to girls dropping out of school. The article evaluates the effectiveness of state-implemented measures, including the system of compulsory education, the functioning of boarding schools, and policies aimed at increasing educational coverage. The results of the study show that despite the achievements made, a number of systemic problems in women’s education persisted over a long period.
