Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the linguocognitive and linguocultural characteristics of gluttonic (gastronomic) discourse in fiction. The study reveals the role of units related to nutrition in expressing human thinking, national culture, and social relations. Based on the materials of Abdullah Qodiriy’s novel “Bygone days” and Utkir Hoshimov’s novel “Such is life” the conceptual-metaphorical functions, pragmatic load, and ethno-cultural content of gluttonyms were analyzed. The problems of gluttonic discourse arising in translation and strategies for their resolution were also considered.
