DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The article examines the pedagogical foundations for developing students’ communicative competence in the process of teaching a foreign language in higher education institutions. The relevance of a communicative orientation in foreign language education is justified in the context of globalization and the internationalization of professional activity. The paper analyzes modern teaching methods that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills, ensuring deeper and more conscious mastery of a foreign language. Particular attention is paid to pedagogical approaches aimed at enhancing oral and written communication as well as to the use of interactive and practice-oriented forms of instruction. The article provides examples of successful implementation of interactive learning technologies that increase students’ motivation and engagement in the educational process. Based on the analysis, the study concludes that a comprehensive and systematic application of diverse pedagogical tools is necessary for the effective development of communicative competence among university students.
