STRATEGIES FOR RENDERING SOMATIC PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN RUSSIAN–UZBEK TRANSLATION

The translation of somatic phraseological units between Russian and Uzbek demonstrates high sensitivity to internal form, cultural markedness, and the pragmatic orientation of the text. The empirical basis includes the author’s comparative sample of 30 units (in both directions of translation), supplemented by data from contrastive studies of somatic phraseology, which show an unequal density of somatic microsystems in the languages and differing productivity of key somatisms. As operational strategies, the study considers a functional phraseological equivalent, a phraseological analogue, calquing, and descriptive rendering, including cases of controlled foreignization with an explicative component.
