Abstract

Recent advances in generative artificial intelligence have led to the growing use of conversational chatbots in second language (L2) learning. Although many studies report positive outcomes, there remains a limited synthesis of how these tools function specifically as interactional partners that influence language skill development and learners’ affective and cognitive experiences.
