Abstract

This article comprehensively explores the theoretical and methodological aspects of the gender conceptosphere's functioning within the framework of the modern gender-cognitive paradigm. The author analyzes the evolution of views on gender studies, from the fundamental works of Western linguists (R. Lakoff, D. Tannen) to the contemporary approaches of Uzbek (Sh. Safarov, N. Makhmudov) and Russian (A. Kirilina, E. Goroshko) linguistic schools. Special attention is paid to the paremiological fund as the most representative source of cognitive scripts and gender stereotypes. Based on a comparative analysis of Uzbek and English proverbs, specific cognitive models reflecting the national-cultural peculiarities of the linguistic worldview are identified.
