CURRENT DIRECTIONS FOR IMPROVING PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS

Abstract

This article analyzes the issue of improving the professional competencies of biomedical engineering students from the perspective of modern educational requirements. The aim of the study is to identify key competencies required in biomedical engineering education and to substantiate effective pedagogical mechanisms for their development. The research employs content analysis, comparative analysis, and generalization methods. The findings indicate that, in addition to technical knowledge, biomedical engineers must possess an understanding of the clinical environment, interdisciplinary collaboration skills, experimental abilities, data interpretation skills, ethical decision-making, and lifelong learning competencies. The article proposes approaches such as project-based learning, clinical immersion, problem-based tasks, laboratory work with real equipment, and industry collaboration mechanisms. It concludes that aligning educational programs with comprehensive competency development enhances graduates’ adaptability to the labor market and their effectiveness in healthcare systems.
