Abstract

This article analyzes the role of literature in language teaching and its pedagogical and moral significance. It explores how literary texts in EFL/ESL classes can be used not only to develop language skills but also to foster moral values among learners. The findings indicate that literature enhances language competence while also promoting empathy, critical thinking, and intercultural awareness. It is also argued that universal moral values can be effectively conveyed through literary works of various genres.
