FUNCTIONING OF PARTS OF SPEECH IN THE MODERN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

This article examines the functioning of parts of speech in modern Russian and their role in shaping the grammatical and semantic structure of utterances. It analyzes major lexical-grammatical categories, their morphological features, and functional potential within the language system. Particular attention is paid to content words—nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, pronouns, and numerals—and their nominative, predicative, and attributive functions. The role of function words—prepositions, conjunctions, and particles—in establishing grammatical relations and conveying semantic and modal nuances is also discussed. The study notes ongoing shifts in usage influenced by mass media, internet communication, and colloquial speech.
