LITTERARY IMAGE: ESSENSE, CLASSIFICATION AND INTERPRETATION

This article provides a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the concept of the “artistic image” as a fundamental category of literary criticism. The study explores the ontological essence of the image, emphasizing its role in the creative transformation of reality through the prism of the author's aesthetic ideal. The author classifies artistic images based on various criteria, including their functional, structural, and content-related characteristics (e.g., character-images, symbol-images, and detail-images). Furthermore, the article examines the mechanisms of interpreting these images in modern literary studies, highlighting the dialectical relationship between the writer's creative intent and the reader's perception. The findings emphasize that the perfection of an artistic image is determined by the harmonious synthesis of typicality and individuality.
