HISTORY OF TOPONYMS (HYDRONYMS AND OIKONYMS) OF QORAOZAK DISTRICT

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the historical and linguistic aspects of place names (toponyms) in the territory of the Qoraozak district. The research analyzes the origin, etymology, and cultural meanings of geographical names found in the region. It emphasizes that place names are closely connected with the language, history, and lifestyle of the local population. Special attention is given to the interpretation of toponyms through local legends, traditions, and oral narratives. The study employs historical-comparative, etymological, and linguistic methods, as well as written sources. The main purpose is to preserve the historical meanings of place names and pass them on to future generations as an important part of cultural heritage. The results demonstrate that the toponymy of the Qoraozak district reflects the rich historical past and cultural identity of the region.
