THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE CONCEPTS OF MYTH, MYTHOLOGICAL IMAGE, AND MOTIF

This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of the concepts of myth, mythological image, and motif. It examines the role of myth in human cognition, its symbolic and artistic features, as well as the stages of formation and development of mythological images. Based on the scientific approaches of Ernst Cassirer, Claude Levi-Strauss, Yeleazar Meletinsky, and Mircea Eliade, the structural, semantic, and functional aspects of myth are revealed. The study also explores the representation of mythological images in folklore and written literature, as well as their significance in the development of artistic thinking. The concepts of mythologism, mythologization, and neomythologism are theoretically substantiated.
