AUTHOR’S ATTITUDE TOWARD COURT WOMEN IN HISTORICAL NOVELS

This article is devoted to the scientific analysis of the representation of court women of
the Timurid dynasty—queens, elite concubines, and influential noblewomen—in historical
sources and literary works. The study employs a comparative method to examine primary sources
such as Abdurazzoq Samarqandi’s “Matlai Sa’dayn wa Majmai Baxrayn,” Sharafiddin Ali Yazdi’s “Zafarnama,” and Clavijo’s travel diary to Amir Temur’s court in Samarkand, as well as modern
literary and scholarly works. The findings reveal that figures such as Bibikhanym (Saroymulk
khanum), Gavharshodbegim, and Milkat agha played significant roles in governance, education,
and construction activities; however, their representation in historical sources is often brief and
fragmentary. The article also highlights underexplored areas in the study of Timurid queens.
