THE PHENOMENON OF LONELINESS IN OLD AGE: A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

This article presents a comprehensive sociological analysis of the phenomenon of loneliness among the elderly population in the context of the transformation of modern society. Loneliness is considered not only as an individual psychological state but also as a result of structural changes in the social system, including urbanization, the transformation of the family institution, and the weakening of intergenerational ties. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the works of such researchers as Émile Durkheim, Anthony Giddens, and Pierre Bourdieu, as well as modern empirical research in the field of social gerontology. The paper proposes the author's sociological model of "Loneliness in the Elderly," which includes the relationship between social, economic, and psychological factors. A simulation empirical analysis was conducted based on a conditional sample reflecting the social structure of the elderly population of Uzbekistan.
