THE TOPIC OF THE PREDICATE IN NATIVE LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS: DEFINITION, INTERPRETATION, AND SCIENTIFIC-ANALYTICAL APPROACH

This article is aimed at describing, explaining, and clarifying the rules concerning the predicate presented in school textbooks. It discusses the role of the predicate in a sentence, as well as its grammatical and semantic features, in a clear and accessible manner. The definitions and examples provided in textbooks are further analyzed from a broader theoretical and scientific perspective. In addition, the types of predicates—verbal and nominal—their simple and compound forms, as well as their independent and dependent forms, are clarified through relevant examples, and their usage features are examined. The article serves to strengthen students’ understanding of the topic and to provide methodological support for teachers.
