This article scientifically explains the common and distinctive features of the concepts of transposition and conversion. The phenomena of shift within the language system are analyzed at the interlevel, demonstrating the differences in their intercategory relations. In particular, the processes of shift in the morphological system are examined through examples characteristic of transposition and conversion.
