Abstract

This article examines the theoretical foundations of psycholinguistics aimed at studying the interrelationship between language, thinking, and human mental processes. The study analyzes, from a psycholinguistic perspective, the cognitive and psychological mechanisms of language activity, particularly the influence of literary texts on human consciousness, emotional states, and thinking processes. In addition, the historical evolution of human thinking is considered through phylogenetic and neuropsycholinguistical approaches, and the characteristics of primitive thinking as well as its connection with mythological worldview are scientifically substantiated. Furthermore, the paper discusses issues related to the functional asymmetry of the brain hemispheres, the differences between Eastern and Western styles of thinking, and the impact of modern information and communication technologies on human consciousness. The results of the study demonstrate that the psycholinguistic approach is of significant scientific importance for understanding the complex relationships between language, thinking, and culture.
