The article analyzes the inextricable link between the stages of development of the Great Silk Road in the Middle Ages and the formation of Arab travel traditions based on historical sources. It is shown that the expansion of the Arab Caliphate, trade relations, and the rise of Islamic civilization led to the emergence of the “rihla” genre. The research highlights cultural and economic exchange processes through traveler works.
