Abstract

This article provides a scholarly analysis of Medina's social and economic life in the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods based on the work of Ali ibn Abdulloh Samhudiy. The study examines the population, social structure, trade, financial systems, and tribal organization of Medina. Using historical sources and citations from Samhudiy's work, the research highlights characteristics of economic activity in both periods. Results show that social and economic life in Medina was well-developed before Islam and further consolidated with new legal and social norms during the Islamic period. These findings serve as a reference for historical  and economic studies.
