THE NEED TO DEVELOP MEDIA LITERACY AND INFORMATION COMPETENCIES AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

This article examines the necessity of developing media literacy and information competencies among university students in the context of the digital transformation of education. The study emphasizes the importance of equipping students with skills for critical evaluation of information, identification of reliable sources, and recognition of misleading or manipulative media content. The concepts of media literacy and information competence are analyzed, along with their role in improving educational quality and professional readiness. The article also highlights pedagogical approaches and modern educational technologies aimed at fostering students’ digital culture and responsible information behavior.
