ISSUES OF LOSS, TRANSFORMATION, INTENSIFICATION, AND NEUTRALIZATION OF CONNOTATIVE MEANING IN TRANSLATION

This article analyzes the phenomena of loss, shift, amplification, and neutralization of connotative meaning in the translation process from the perspective of modern translation theory. The study examines cases of various transformations of connotative meaning, scientific justification of the causes of their occurrence and results, as well as issues of achieving pragmatic equivalence. The article is devoted to methods of preserving connotative meaning in translation and its full transmission within the framework of the target language capabilities, compensation techniques, and the importance of the translator’s linguocultural competence. Based on examples from works of fiction in English and Uzbek, practical manifestations of connotative transformations are analyzed.
