Abstract

This study aims to identify effective pedagogical mechanisms for developing surgical decision-making competence in future doctors. It highlights the necessity of training students to make accurate and rapid decisions in real clinical settings alongside theoretical knowledge. An integrated instructional model incorporating simulation-based learning, problem-based learning (PBL), case study, and debriefing methods was developed and implemented. Using a quasi-experimental design, 60 students were divided into experimental and control groups, and their results were compared. Assessment tools included OSCE, written tests, and clinical scenario-based tasks. The findings revealed a significant improvement in decision-making competence in the experimental group (p < 0.001). Notably, students demonstrated enhanced clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, and operative decision-making skills. The results confirm the effectiveness of innovative pedagogical approaches over traditional methods and support their broader implementation in medical education.
