PAREMIOLOGICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT “TRADITION” IN RUSSIAN AND UZBEK LINGUOCULTURES

Abstract

The article examines the paremiological representation of the concept of “tradition” in Russian and Uzbek linguocultures, drawing on proverbs and sayings as a genre of normative collective memory. The aim is to identify the semantic components of the concept and to describe the ways its axiological fixation is realized in paremiological units, where tradition functions less as an account of the past than as a mechanism for regulating the present social order. The findings show that in Russian paremiological material tradition is more often marked through pragmatic rationalization of the norm and its commentability (including ironic distancing), whereas in Uzbek paremiology it is more strongly associated with the priority of communal cohesion and with ethical-normative sanctioning that consolidates socially acceptable behavioural scenarios.
