DEVELOPING SPIRITUAL AND MORAL COMPETENCIES IN PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS BASED ON SHAROF RASHIDOV’S NOVEL THE WINNERS: A CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS

The article explores the pedagogical potential of fiction as a tool for the development of spiritual and moral skills among future teachers, based on the work of Sharof Rashidov “Winners”. This work was originally published as a novella in 1953, and later republished as a novel in 1972, allowing us to consider it a text with established values and well-developed socio-moral themes. The focus of the article is on the motivations for creativity, the transformation of space, specifically the theme of the development and “renewal” of land and water, collective responsibility, civic duty, and individual moral integrity. The goal of the research is to identify the key spiritual and moral concepts in the work, correlate them with the competencies required for teacher training, such as professional ethics, fairness, responsibility, collaboration, and civic engagement, and propose a didactic framework for incorporating the text into the curriculum at a teacher training institution. The methodological foundation of this research was qualitative content analysis. Semantically significant fragments were coded according to a “value – action – pedagogical implication” scheme and clustered into groups that correspond to specific skills.
