COMPARATIVE-SEMANTIC AND TRANSLATIONAL FEATURES OF ABSTRACT NOUNS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

This article provides a comparative analysis of the structural-semantic, grammatical and translational features of abstract nouns in English and Uzbek. The role of abstract nouns in both language systems, their countable/uncountable forms, relationship with the article category, use in singular and plural, and participation in the conversion process are highlighted. Also, the stylistic and pragmatic possibilities of abstract nouns are considered on the example of literary and journalistic texts. The equivalence, synonymous exchange and grammatical transformations of abstract concepts in the translation process are analyzed, and the mechanisms of expression of typological differences between the two languages are identified. The results of the study serve to provide a deeper understanding of the patterns of use of abstract nouns in English and Uzbek and to improve translation practice.
