Abstract

The research analyzes issues of equivalence in translations of the English writer Thomas Mayne Reid’s novel “The Headless Horseman” from the perspective of linguistics and translation studies. It examines the issues of preserving semantic accuracy in literary translation, conveying the author's individual style, adequately translating artistic images and figurative devices, and expressing cultural realities. Based on a comparative analysis, the original English text and its translations into Russian and Uzbek are examined, and types of equivalence at different levels are determined.
