PHILOSOPHICAL-CATEGORIAL ANALYSIS OF THE CONCEPT OF ACADEMIC FREEDOM

The article analyzes the concept of academic freedom as a philosophical category. It is studied as a specific component of the philosophy of education, the idea of the university, and the development of science. The structure of academic freedom is closely related to the autonomy of science, a component of individual rights and freedoms, and social responsibility. The concept of academic freedom is manifested in modern socio-philosophical thinking as a complex and multi-layered category, which is formed inextricably linked with such fundamental philosophical categories as freedom, knowledge, creativity, responsibility, and autonomy. Academic freedom is a special manifestation of the general category of freedom in the field of science and education, and means the independence of a scientific subject - a scientist, teacher, and researcher - in choosing scientific problems, interpreting them, and publishing scientific conclusions.
