Abstract

This article provides a theoretical analysis of the functional role of values in developing students’ ethnocultural competence in the context of globalization and intercultural education. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to form individuals capable of effective intercultural communication based on national and universal values. The aim of the research is to identify the role of values in the development of ethnocultural competence and to justify their pedagogical potential. The study employs theoretical analysis, an axiological approach, and generalization. The findings indicate that values perform motivational, normative, and communicative functions that contribute to the development of ethnocultural competence. The scientific novelty lies in proposing a conceptual model based on the functional role of values. The results can be applied in higher education practice.
