Abstract

This article investigates the linguistic nature of emoji units in English and Uzbek, as well as the theoretical and methodological foundations of their comparative analysis. The functional-semantic features, pragmatic peculiarities, and discursive role of emoji in modern digital communication are examined. Particular attention is paid to the interpretation of emoji in different linguocultural contexts and their role in meaning-making within discourse. The study employs comparative-typological, descriptive, and discourse analysis methods. The findings contribute to understanding emojis as an essential component of the language system and identify key challenges in their study.
