Abstract

The article examines the theoretical and conceptual foundations of energy security in global politics. The study considers energy security not only as an economic resource but also as an independent political and geopolitical category. This concept has emerged amid globalization, geopolitical competition, and increasing interdependence between states, with energy resources directly influencing national security, foreign policy, and strategic governance. The article analyzes the economic, political-geopolitical, and institutional approaches to energy security, its historical development, OPEC policies, oil crises, and the role of transnational cooperation. Through realist, liberal, and constructivist paradigms, the mechanisms of power, cooperation, and conflict shaped by energy resources in international relations are examined. Moreover, energy security is framed in a regional-geopolitical context, highlighting the strategic significance of transit routes, infrastructure, and institutional mechanisms as central elements ensuring national and global security.
