LEXICAL-SEMANTIC REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT OF “MOTHER” IN THE UZBEK LANGUAGE PICTURE OF THE WORLD (BASED ON MONOLINGUAL AND HISTORICAL DICTIONARIES)

The article examines the peculiarities of the lexical-semantic representation of the concept of “mother” in the Uzbek language picture of the world based on historical and contemporary lexicographical sources. The analysis is based on data from Turkic dictionaries of the 19th–20th centuries, as well as explanatory dictionaries of the Uzbek language from various periods. Particular attention is paid to the semantic structure of the lexeme ona and its polysemy. The study reveals the original and invariant meaning of this lexeme and its derivative sememes. The semantic analysis allows us to establish the main components of the meaning, as well as to trace the directions of semantic derivation. The results obtained allow us to clarify the features of the linguistic representation of the concept of “mother” in the Uzbek language picture of the world and create a basis for its further comparative analysis with similar concepts in other languages.
