Abstract

The article analyzes the role of the media (mass media) in the formation of cultural norms and values within the framework of socio-philosophical and sociological approaches. The normative, constructive, integrative, control and conflict-generating functions of the media are systematized. Also, the issues of algorithmic recommendations, information bubbles, post-truth, disinformation, media culture and media literacy in the context of digital platforms are highlighted. The research results show that the impact of the media on the dynamics of values is multifactorial, and for social stability, it is necessary to strengthen media literacy, tighten ethical standards and increase platform responsibility.
