Abstract

This article discusses the issues of determining and assessing the level of development of communicative skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. In the course of the study, verbal and nonverbal communicative tools, basic communication tasks, and socio-emotional skills were studied in children with autism spectrum disorders aged 4–5 years using experimental methods. The experiment was organized into three stages - preparatory, main, and final stages, and the children's communication skills, communication continuation, social response reactions, expression of emotions, and social behavior were analyzed. The results of the study showed that the majority of children with autism spectrum disorders had low levels of communicative skills. Also, some children had echolalia, difficulties in eye contact, weak emotional reactions, and limited social interaction during communication. The results obtained indicate the need for special correctional and pedagogical methods and training based on an individual approach to develop communicative skills in children with autism spectrum disorders.
