PRISON- AND CRIME-RELATED IDIOMS AND COLLOCATIONS IN SIDNEY SHELDON’S IF TOMORROW COMES: THEIR UZBEK TRANSLATION AND ANALYSIS

This article provides an in-depth linguistic analysis of idioms and collocations related to crime and prison discourse in Sidney Sheldon’s If Tomorrow Comes. The novelty of the study lies in examining phraseological units not only from a translation perspective but also in terms of their statistical distribution, discourse functions, and pragmatic load. The findings indicate that collocations are mainly translated through equivalence, whereas idioms are more often rendered through adaptation and semantic transformation.
