This article presents a comparative analysis of mythonyms in Uzbek and English — onomastic units of mythological origin — from the perspective of linguoculturology. Mythonyms, as a system of names assigned to gods, heroes, mythical places and objects, preserve the worldview, historical memory and cultural code of each people. The study examines mythonyms characteristic of Uzbek mythology (Alpomish, Zumrad, Semurg, Qoraqush, Oqtemir) alongside mythonyms derived from Anglo-Greco-Roman mythology (Prometheus, Achilles, Venus, Neptune, Pandora), applying the method of linguocultural analysis. The research identifies semantic transformations of mythonyms in contemporary language use, the patterns of their preservation in phraseological units and literary texts, as well as similarities and differences between the mythonymic systems of the two languages. The findings serve as a foundation for comparing Uzbek and English linguocultures and generating new knowledge at the intersection of linguistics and cultural studies.
