MODERN PARADIGMS OF STUDYING PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

The article presents a comparative analysis of idioms (phraseological units) in modern linguistics from cognitive, linguocultural, pragmatic, and corpus-based perspectives. English and Uzbek idioms are examined as conceptual and cultural codes shaped by national cognition, culture, and social context. The study highlights the transition from structural-semantic approaches to cognitive and discourse paradigms, the empirical potential of corpus linguistics, the practical role of constructional and linguocultural analyses, and psycholinguistic aspects. The article contributes to a deeper understanding of English–Uzbek phraseology for translation studies, lexicography, and intercultural communication.
