ARABIC LOANWORDS IN ALISHER NAVOI’S HISTORICAL WORKS — “TARIKHI MULUKI AJAM” AND “TARIKHI ANBIYO VA HUKAMO”

Abstract

This article analyzes the reasons for the use of Arabic loanwords (Arabisms) in Alisher Navoi’s historical works Tarikhi muluki ajam and Tarikhi anbiyo va hukamo, as well as their lexico-semantic and functional-stylistic characteristics. The study explains the presence of Arabisms in the texts through religious, scholarly-enlightenment, cultural-literary, and stylistic factors, and highlights their role in ensuring the accuracy of historical narration, expressing religious and ethical meanings, and strengthening the artistic gravity and stylistic solemnity of the discourse. In terms of meaning, Arabic loanwords are classified into religious terminology, socio-political titles, scholarly and literary terms, moral-philosophical concepts, as well as Arabic formulas and devotional expressions that reinforce the tone of the text. The findings substantiate that, in Navoi’s historical writings, Arabisms function as an important means of enriching the language and conveying historical and religious content in a concise and expressive manner.
