This article analyzes the theoretical foundations for developing the professional competence of future engineers based on modern educational approaches. The study reveals the essence of competency-based, systemic, integrative, learner-centered, and innovative approaches, as well as their role in the process of engineering education. The formation of professional competence of future engineers is substantiated as a complex, multi-component pedagogical phenomenon in which the integration of knowledge, skills, abilities, professional thinking, and reflective activity serves as a crucial condition. The article also highlights the didactic potential of modern educational approaches in enhancing the effectiveness of professional training and demonstrates their importance in improving the content, methods, and forms of education. The research findings have practical significance for the scientific and methodological substantiation of pedagogical technologies aimed at developing the professional competence of future engineers, as well as for improving the quality of engineering education in higher education institutions.
