Abstract

This article examines the scientific and theoretical foundations of teaching biology in higher education institutions through the integration of digital technologies. The study is grounded in digital pedagogy, the competency-based approach, multimodal learning, and interactive teaching methodologies. Particular attention is given to the didactic potential of virtual laboratories, simulation software, learning management systems (LMS), digital microscopy, and 3D modeling tools. The research highlights how digital environments enhance students’ research competencies, promote independent learning, and foster reflective thinking. The findings support the need for modernizing biology education in higher education institutions through the systematic integration of digital technologies.
